Overall, though, Tchia does a fantastic job of integrating folkloric and spiritual traditions in a way that feels unforced, respectful, and elegant. Tchia pays tribute to New Caledonia with a gorgeous open-world game that takes the right notes from Breath of the Wild. If an animal needs to be butchered, so be it. Tchia review: beautiful open-world indie is a new coming-of-age classic. The game does not shy away from the reality of animals and nature as a resource, however. Then there are times when you want feel a sense of catharsis as you enjoy some casual minigames or tasks. Other times, you want to play a game where you can just turn your brain off and explore. Oh, and did I mention you can play the ukulele Because Tchia. Review Tchia Posted on Apby Heidi Hawes Leave a comment Sometimes, you want to play a game that takes you on a grand adventure. Most of the game’s quests involve interacting with nature. Tchia makes exploration feel fantastic, as you’ll immediately feel like you have all the tools to make this world your oyster. A reverence for the natural world is a fundamental aspect of Tchia. While New Caledonia is French territory, its culture and folklore are deeply rooted in Pacific Island traditions. Tchia is a Fun, Wholesome Version of Breath of the Wild and GTA - Beyond Clips. There’s a great amount of give-and-take between using abilities to complete a quest and completing a quest or mini-game to gain new abilities. This might involve something simple like soul jumping into a bird to reach a high treetop, or becoming a boulder. Because she can glide, inhabit and control animals and manipulate objects with her soul-jumping ability, Tchia can solve environmental puzzles and get what she needs. Very often these involve collecting objects from seemingly inaccessible locations. They send her on typical RPG-style side quests. Its ranked in the top 29 of games and recommended. This quickly takes a fair bit of the intrigue out of the game because even with the Soul Jump mechanic, it just does not feel worthwhile to travel those long distances. This makes exploring a bit of a chore! Quite often, the game will send you to one side of the map, just for one inconsequential cut-scene or interaction and then just send you back to where you just came from. However, on the other hand, most of the traversal does feel quite slow and tedious. This is definitely an intriguing mechanic that I did have a fair bit of fun with. The Soul Jump feature, which allows you to take control of any creature, and sometimes inanimate objects, as a way of solving puzzles or just simply traveling the vast islands. It is a bit of a mixed bag in this department. So is that the case in Tchia? Well, not exactly. Seeing as there is a large emphasis on traversal, it is vital for the gameplay to be intriguing and a real selling point. The possession mechanic is a ton of fun, the sights and sounds are undeniably attractive, and it has a good dose of dark humour to top it all off. Because of this, the narrative really just feels like an add on to encourage players to explore the world.
